CW Research: India February month-on-month green petcoke imports decrease
According to CW Research, India's imports of uncalcined petcoke slightly exceeded 0.8 million tons in February 2016 with cement companies representing about 61 percent of purchases.
The monthly import volume represents a 9 percent decline over January's imports and up 76 percent compared with the year-ago period. Indian uncalcined petcoke imports totaled 0.92 million tons in January 2016, while the country imported 0.47 million tons of uncalcined petcoke in February 2015.
ÔÇ£Chinese petcoke ban may not affect the market and the prices as strongly as was anticipated initially. Since the international prices will not be highly affected, India will continue its consumption of imported petcoke," said Sushmita Rai, Sr. Associate Analyst, CW Group.
