PepsiCo, on its sustainable journey with pep+ (PepsiCo Positive), is pioneering recyclable paper packaging for multipacks in North America, marking a pivotal moment in beverage industry sustainability. The company commits to replacing traditional plastic rings with paper-based solutions.

PepsiCo Beverages North America (PBNA) is introducing innovative carton designs, set to roll out gradually across the United States this year. This transition builds on the success PepsiCo has seen in Canada, where the shift to cardboard packaging is gaining momentum. Brands including Pepsi, Pepsi Zero, MTN DEW, Starry, Gatorade, and more will embrace eco-friendly cardboard wrappers and clips for their multipacks. Even 7Up in Canada is making the transition. The new packaging, crafted from recycled materials, is not only consumer-friendly but also recyclable.

This sustainability initiative aligns with PepsiCo's pep+ goals to slash the use of virgin plastic from non-renewable sources in its global food and beverage portfolio by 50 percent before 2030. The transition to paper-based packaging in North America exemplifies PepsiCo's commitment to driving circularity in packaging and eliminating millions of pounds of plastic from its product lineup.
