Heavy production costs are reflecting on higher prices

In the Mediterranean Basin region, FOB prices for prompt deliveries of bulk ordinary Portland cement and clinker recorded a slim increase when compared to December, according to CW Research’s January update of Mediterranean Basin cement and clinker prompt delivery cargo price assessment.

Ana Almeida, CW Group’s analyst, observes: "In the beginning of 2019, export cement prices in the region are slightly increasing as major market players try to cover hikes in production costs. Currency depreciation is also bringing some pressure to cement prices."

CW Research’s January update to Mediterranean Basin Cement and Clinker price assessment report covers the latest happenings in the region’s trading situation.

Moreover, the monthly report also includes details about shipping indices of dry bulk tendency and its reasons, as well as the latest trends in the bunker oil futures.

Price points are based on the analyst team’s on-going discussions with cement traders, producers, exporters and other stakeholders in the business and reflect a synthesis of actual traded cargos.
