Former LafargeHolcim China Head brings drive and experience
The World Cement Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Riley as CEO of WCA effective September 1, 2019. Ian has many years of international experience in Europe, America and Asia, most recently in China where he was the country manager for LafargeHolcim from 2008 until earlier this year. Ian’s industry and international experience will be extremely helpful in the next stage of WCA’s development.
WCA Chairman Vincent Lefebvre said “We are delighted that Ian Riley has agreed to join WCA as its CEO. Ian has many years of international business experience, including the last 10 years as China Country Head for LafargeHolcim. He has excellent business experience and the drive to help us take WCA to the next level. I am very pleased that we have been able to attract someone with his track record and competence.”
Delegates to the WCA World Cement Conference, to be held in Shanghai from September 9 to 11, will have the chance to meet the new CEO and hear his vision for the future of the industry. According to Ian Riley, “The cement industry faces a huge challenge in responding to the Paris climate goals and changing expectations from society. One of WCA’s key roles is to help the industry around the world respond with technical innovation and practical regulatory initiatives.” The WCA conference features presentations by high level industry executives from the world’s largest cement markets of China and India, as well as by experts from around the world.
