The hurdles to change have proven challenging, but several are leading the charge in overcoming those roadblocks. Historically, coal has been the primary fuel source for the Indian cement sector, with petcoke largely filling the balance. However, domestic coal suppliers are unable to meet the growing coal demand, thus pushing cement producers to either import at higher prices or look for other solutions.
